*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s dressed as Hunter S Thompson while holding a flyswatter. He pulls it out and starts waiving it around. Darnell The Deliveryman outside his truck just looks at him, shakes his head and drives off*
W: Fuckin pigs, this is bat country. Come on inside, wait till you see those damn bats
*Warlock staggers inside pretending to be afraid of everything*
W: Tonight at Warlock’s Movie Realm…..AH!
*Warlock bumps into Neyz who’s wearing standard attire*
N: Will you cut that out? That’s not even the right movie.
*Warlock stops pretending*
W: Uh….oh yeah.
*Warlock takes his hat and sunglasses off before picking up his mega pint of Pepsi*
W: Tonight Neyzor Blades and I will be watching another film adaptation of one of Hunter S Thompson’s works. We”ll be watching the 2011 drama THE RUM DIARY.
N: This is going to be tough to watch.
W: Yes it will, if you cared about the trial last year. If you don’t know what I mean, give me a minute. The movie itself stars Johnny Depp as a writer…again, and he’s in Puerto Rico hired to write for a rag of a newspaper. If you’ve seen Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas, its kind of the same thing only its booze instead of drugs and they’re in Puerto Rico. Now the cast is amazing, we got Richard Jenkins, Johnny Depp, Giovanni Ribisi, Michael Rispoli, Aaron Eckhart and…..Amber Heard.
N: Dun dun DUNNNNNN
W: Now for those who have been living under a rock or don’t pay attention to mainstream media, THIS was the movie Johnny Depp met Amber Heard while filming. That whole trial we all sat through last year came about because they met each other on set. We’re not here to talk about the trial though, we’re here to find out if THE RUM DIARY is any good. Fear & Loathing was great so let’s see if this is just as good.
*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch while Neyz sits in the recliner*
W: So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for THE RUM DIARY.
Written by Bruce Robinson and Hunter S Thompson
Directed by Bruce Robinson
Cast:
*Neyz reads the tag-line*
N: “American journalist Paul Kemp takes on a freelance job in Puerto Rico for a local newspaper in the 1960’s and struggles to find a balance between local culture and the expatriates who live there.”
W: Expatriates, that’s good verbiage.
