633. School Ties (1992)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a Shady Records t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a Mega Pint of Pepsi*

W: Welcome to my lair….welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*Warlock makes the ground rumble before walking inside*

W: Seeing Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in The Last Duel brought back some memories of some of the movies I’ve seen them in together. Good Will Hunting and Dogma should be required viewing by mostly everyone. There was one I’ve always wanted to see but never could for various reasons…until now. Tonight’s movie is the 1992 drama SCHOOL TIES. What’s this one about Brendan Frasier is a star high school quarterback who’s accepted by an elite prep school. There’s only one problem, this is set in the 1950’s and Brendan’s character is Jewish. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon figure it out and plan to make Brendan’s life a living hell.

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: Affleck and Damon weren’t household names yet and Brendan hadn’t reached his peak in the mid to late 90’s so this could be special. Chris O’Donnell, Cole Hauser, Amy Locane and Kevin Tighe are in this one so the acting should be good at least. Whether or not the story can hold up is what we’re about to find out. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for SCHOOL TIES.

632. The Heavenly Kid (1985)

*The Warlock is on a skype call with critically acclaimed movie critic Lacy Lou*

W: Are you sure about this?

L: Absolutely, its one of my favorite movies. It was a cult classic, trust me on this.

W: Alright, I’ll give it a shot.

L: Let me know what you think.

W: I will.

*Warlock ends the call and makes another one. Mr. Wallstreet answers*

Wa: What’s up?

W: Send me THE HEAVENLY KID on dvd.

Wa: What is that?

W: Supposed to be a teen comedy from 1985.

Wa: Hold on.

*30 seconds later*

Wa: I don’t have to send it, its on Paramount Plus.

W: Oh, well what do I need you for?

Wa: Oh shut up.

*Wallstreet ends the call and Warlock spins around*

W: Welcome to my lair for another impromptu movie night here at Warlock’s Movie Realm. After a recommendation from critically acclaimed movie critic Lacy Lou, tonight’s movie will be the 1985 teen comedy THE HEAVENLY KID. What’s this supposed to be about? Some kid in 1985 is a complete loser until a guardian angel shows up who was a dead drag racer from the 1960’s. Think The Fonz only younger. Anyway, its got Richard Mulligan and Mark Metcalf in it so at least it should be watchable. I’m aware of a lot of 80’s comedies but not this one. Let’s find out if it deserves to be a cult classic or a forgotten dud. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for THE HEAVENLY KID.

*Warlock reads a tag-line*

W: “A hip guardian angel named Bobby Fontana, who died in a car race in the 60s, reluctantly agrees to watch over a lonely 80s high schooler who needs guidance on how to become cool.”

W: Instead of Michael Landon we got a younger Fonz huh?

631. Infinite (2021)

*Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a Roman Reigns bloodline t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a Mega Pint of Dr. Pepper*

W: Welcome to my lair….welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*Warlock shoots a lightning bolt and walks inside*

W: Since we’re on a roll of movies that are actually relevant not counting the first Beavis and Butthead….which was only to set up the brand new movie coming out, we may as well stay recent. Mr. Wallstreet may be out of a job soon because why wait three days for DVDs when you can stream them on your own time? Especially when they’re free like tonight’s movie….provided you paid for the app of course.

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: Tonight’s movie I randomly picked will be the 2021 fantasy action movie INFINITE. Apparently Marky Mark figures out the dreams he’s been having aren’t dreams, they’re memories from a past life. The movie is based on a book my father actually owns called The Reincarnationist Papers but the bad news is he said the book sucked. More bad news is this is rated just 5.4 on IMDB which means a lot of people think its simply “meh”. Since I never cared for what the critics think, I’ll give this one a shot. Marky Mark movies usually don’t suck puke as Kato Kaelin would say and mindless action is never a bad thing. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for INFINITE.

Wa: THE LAST DUEL.

W: Ohhhh, I saw the trailer for that. Matt Damon has to fight Adam Driver over family honor or something.

Wa: Something like that. Its on HBO Max, I don’t even have to send it to you.

W: Thanks for the tip, see you around.

*Warlock ends the call*

W: Welcome to the lair for an impromptu movie tonight at the Realm. Tonight’s movie is the 2021 medieval drama THE LAST DUEL. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon reunited to write a movie set in the middle ages about a married knight that takes on his ambitious squire after the knight’s wife claimed the squire acted inappropriately. Think of Jason Bourne vs Kylo Ren in 14th century France. The cast is damn good, Affleck & Damon usually deliver the goods and we got Ridley Scott at the helm. This is shaping up to be something good so grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for THE LAST DUEL.

629. Beavis & Butthead Do The Universe (2022)

*The Warlock is in Thug D’s Palace wearing an AC/DC tshirt and red shorts*

W: Welcome to Thug D’s palace for a very special occasion here at Warlock’s Movie Realm. Back when we were kids, Thug D and I here were pretty much the Beavis and Butthead of our elementary school. Isn’t that right?

*Thug D is on his throne wearing a band jean jacket, Metallica t-shirt and gray jeans*

D: Yeah, that’s pretty much how it went.

W: Like I mentioned yesterday, Beavis and Butthead was an iconic 90’s MTV cartoon that hit its peak in 1996 with the full length film Beavis and Butthead Do America. The show was cancelled in 1998 and apart from a one season comeback in 2011 that ended because the boys somehow became smarter than the trash that was on MTV by that point, the duo has been shelved ever since.

D: Until now.

W: Exactly. Unfortunately the plot for the long waited sequel to Do America is basically the exact same as Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling. Beavis and Butthead are sent from 1998 twenty-four years into the future and are forced to adjust to modern day life…..which was Static Cling as well. I don’t know how Mike Judge didn’t get sued for gimmick infringement but nevertheless, BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD DO THE UNIVERSE was released today and we’ll be watching it. Since D and I were the Beavis and Butthead of our school in 1995, its only fair for us to reunite to laugh once again. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD DO THE UNIVERSE.

D: “After a “creative” judge sentences them to space camp, a black hole sends our adolescent heroes 24 years into the modern future where the duo misuse Iphones, embark on a quest to score, and become targets of the Deep State.”

W: That sounds astronomically stupid….perfect for us!

628. Beavis & Butthead Do America (1996)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing an AC/DC t-shirt and red shorts. He’s not holding a drink*

W: Uh, uh huh huh huh, like, welcome to my lair and stuff. Uh huh huh huh come on in dumbass, uh huh huh huh.

*Warlock walks inside*

W: Uh huh huh huh so like, tomorrow the new Beavis and Butthead movie is coming out, uh huh huh huh so I figured we should…watch the first movie…or something uh huh huh huh.

*Neyzor Blades is in the recliner wearing standard attire*

N: Will you cut that out?

W: *switched voice pitches* Yeah, hmmm hmmm heh, hey how’s it going? Hmm hmm heh, this is is gonna be cool, hmmm hmm heh.

N: Stop it!

W: *Back to normal* Okay, okay okay……tomorrow the new Beavis and Butthead movie comes out so today, Neyzor Blades and I are catching the first and only movie they have done before. Back in 1996 at the height of their popularity, Mike Judge brought his iconic cartoon duo to the big screen. For those too young to remember, Beavis and Butthead were two teenaged dumbasses that caused mayhem and entertained people for most of the 90’s. The show ran from 1993 to 1998 but really hit their peak in the mid 90’s. In 1996, BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD DO AMERICA was released to the public. Featuring Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, Do America extended what was usually two 6 minute cartoons, two music videos and commercials into an 82 minute feature length film.

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: I’ve probably seen BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD DO AMERICA 15 times since I saw it as a kid and the movie poster used to hang in my room for years. It gets funnier every time I see it so I’m not even going to bother asking if its good or holds up. This is going to be a fun ride back to 1996 so grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD DO AMERICA.

627. House of Gucci (2021)

<November 2021>

*The Warlock is sitting at his latop after finishing a Skype call with Mr. Wallstreet when he hears Heart of Glass by Blondie coming from the TV*

W: Woah, haven’t heard THAT in a while.

*Neyzor Blades is in the recliner watching TV*

N: Its a trailer for some movie coming out.

W: What is it?

N: Something called House of Gucci.

W: Of all the songs they use, they use Heart of Glass?

N: Wasn’t my choice.

*Warlock puts on the trailer on his laptop and watches it*

W: Hmmmm, interesting. Maybe I’ll give it a look some day.

<PRESENT DAY>

*Warlock is putting a DVD into the player*

N: What the hell are we watching now?

W: Remember that movie that came out in November in theaters called House of Gucci?

N: Yeah, what about it?

W: Mr. Wallstreet sent it to me. I wanted to watch it with you.

N: It looked stupid though.

W: I don’t know, there’s something about it that piqued my interest.

N: Whatever.

*Warlock turns to the camera*

W: So in case you haven’t guessed, tonight’s movie will be the 2021 drama HOUSE OF GUCCI. Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jared Leto and Jeremy Irons star in the story of Gucci. Its supposed to be based on true events but since I don’t give a rats ass about fashion, I don’t know the story. The trailer looked interesting, especially with Blondie’s Heart of Glass as its theme song but let’s see if this can hold up for 2 hours and 38 minutes. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for HOUSE OF GUCCI.

W: Okay, okay, okay…its time to celebrate.

*Warlock flicks his wrist and the dvd player opens up*

N: Let me guess, a movie?

W: Right you are. To cap off Johnny Depp Tribute Week we’re going to take a look at one of my personal favorites, the 2009 gangster action movie PUBLIC ENEMIES. To those that don’t know, its a fictional biographical look at the very real gaggle of criminals that plagued the US from the late 1920’s to mid 1930’s, chronicling the rise of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The book this is based on took a look at legitimate bank robbers John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, Red Hamilton, Charles Makley, Pete Pierpont, Homer Van Meter and the professional kidnappers Alvin Karpis, Doc & Freddy Barker. The movie stars Johnny Depp as Dillinger and Christian Bale as Agent Melvin Purvis, the man tasked to catch him. Unfortunately as good as the movie is, it takes a LOT of liberties with the real story. That’s just going to be me nitpicking, Neyz will love this no matter what. So let’s get started with the final movie of Johnny Depp Tribute Week. Grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for PUBLIC ENEMIES.

*Neyz reads the tag-line*

N: “The Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s.”

W: It took 8 seconds to find Floyd. They were better off naming Alvin Karpis or the Barker brothers.
