*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a black tuxedo and gargoyle shades while holding a glass of Barq’s Root Beer*
W: Welcome to my lair…welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.
*Warlock shoots a lightning bolt before walking inside*
W: Welcome back to Oscar’s Month here at Warlock’s Movie Realm. Tonight we’re taking a look at a very interesting looking movie. Tonight we will be catching the winner of Best Picture from 2011, THE ARTIST.
*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*
W: First the accolades. Jean Dujardin won Best Actor, Michel Hazanavicius won Best Director, Berenice Bejo was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, the movie was nominated for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay and Best Editing while the movie won Best Costume Design and Best Original Score. Now for the competition, THE ARTIST beat out The Descendants, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, The Help, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life and War Horse. The only one of those I’ve seen is Moneyball and I loved that movie. THE ARTIST definitely has a tall hill to climb to beat out that one.
*Warlock takes a swig of his drink*
W: So what is THE ARTIST about? An egotistical silent film actor falls in love with a young dancer……which was exactly the plot of Singin In The Rain. Still, at least Singin just happens to be my favorite movie of all time. THE ARTIST at least tries to be a legitimate tribute to the silent era as its going to be in black & white, becoming the first black and white Best Picture since Schindler’s List in 1993. Now the cast is really solid but the two leads are Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo. The cast we all know is John Goodman, James Cromwell, Penelope Ann Miller, Missi Pyle, Ed Lauter, Malcolm McDowell and Bill “Patrick” Fagerbakke. With a great cast, a proven storyline and a throwback to an era in Hollywood I actually like, let’s see if THE ARTIST is worthy of being Best Picture. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for THE ARTIST.

W: “An egomaniacal film star develops a relationship with a young dancer against the backdrop of Hollywood’s silent era.”
W: Yeah, that’s the same exact plot as Singin In The Rain.
