625. Secret Window (2004)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a Cry Baby Walker t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a glass of water*

W: Welcome to my lair…welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*Warlock levitates then walks inside*

W: As Johnny Depp Tribute Week reaches its end, we have two movies left to cover. One of them was a special request by none other than Neyzor Blades and the other will be the main event of my choosing tomorrow. As for today, take it away Neyz.

*Neyzor Blades is in the recliner wearing standard attire*

N: Tonight we will be covering the 2004 adaptation of the Stephen King short story known as SECRET WINDOW.

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: That’s right, Johnny Depp stars in a Stephen King movie…or book…or whatever, you get the idea. Depp stars as a writer….how unusual for a King novel….who’s haunted by a strange man who stalks him and his ex-wife claiming plagiarism on a story Depp may or may have not stole. Ironically the book this is from also contains The Langoliers. Its called Four Past Midnight.

N: Hey I was supposed to say that. Anyway this was my personal recommendation so I’m going to love it. If he doesn’t, who cares?

W: So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because it’s time for SECRET WINDOW.

*Neyzor Blades reads the tag-line*

N: “A successful writer in the midst of a painful divorce is stalked at his remote lake house by a would-be scribe who accuses him of plagiarism.”

W: I know this was 18 years ago but considering what’s going on with Johnny now, holy moly is it ironic we’re watching this now.

624. Blow (2001)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a Team Johnny t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a diamond studded goblet of water*

W: Welcome to my lair…..welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock!

*Warlock shoots fire into the sky and walks inside*

W: Johnny Depp Tribute Week continues with another dive into the world of drugs, only this was based on actual events.

*Neyzor Blades is in the recliner wearing standard attire*

N: Wait, you mean BLOW?

W: Way to spoil it, but yes…..we’re doing the crime drama BLOW. For those that don’t know, the real life Pablo Escobar controlled the drug trade in the 1970’s and 1980’s and this was the story of one of his goons, George Jung, played by Johnny Depp.

N: He’s not a goon.

W: Whatever. Point being this is supposedly George Jung’s story and Johnny gets the call to portray him. I saw this years ago but will it hold up 20 years after the movie was released? Let’s find out. Grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for BLOW.

*Warlock reads the tag-line*

W: “The story of how George Jung, along with the Medellín Cartel headed by Pablo Escobar, established the American cocaine market in the 1970s in the United States.”

N: I love Johnny.

623. Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas (1998)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair and runs out of it dressed as Hunter S Thompson with a yellow and black Hawaiian shirt, a white beach hat, yellow aviator shades and he swings a black flyswatter around*

W: Welcome to my lair….but watch out, this is bat country! Better come inside.

*Warlock runs inside waiving the flyswatter around as Neyzor Blades is in the recliner wearing standard attire*

N: What the hell are you doing, will you start the movie already?

W: Sorry folks, Johnny Depp Tribute Week continues with a personal favorite of ours. If my outfit hasn’t given it away, we are doing the 1998 drug comedy FEAR & LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS, based off the book by Hunter S Thompson.

N: I love this movie.

W: In preparation of this movie, I got the outfit from the movie and I got some supplies.

N: Supplies?

W: We have two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers, also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw either, two dozen amyls….and a roll of toilet paper?

N: Toilet paper??

W: Not that we need all that for the movie, but once you get locked into a movie as good as this, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.

N: Will you stop?

W: The only thing that worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than……

N: STOP!

W: Sorry. Anyway this was one of Depp’s iconic roles as the movie adaptation followed the book almost word for word. Will it hold up 24 years later? The only way to find out is to shut up and watch. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for FEAR & LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS.

N: Pirates of the Carribean?

W: No….good choice but no. I’m talking about the 1990 fantasy drama EDWARD SCISSORHANDS!

N: I love that movie!

W: A lot of people do. At the height of Tim Burton’s popularity in the late 1980’s, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS launched Johnny Depp from a TV heartthrob into a mega-movie star. The story is a mad scientist builds an android with scissors for a hands and one day a suburban teenaged girl stumbles upon his domain. She brings Edward into the real world and all hell breaks loose.

N: That’s not how I remember…..

W: I know, I know, I’m kidding. This was considered his breakout role so let’s see if Johnny Depp and EDWARD SCISSORHANDS holds up 30 years later. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for EDWARD SCISSORHANDS.

*Neyz is in the recliner wearing standard attire*

N: What is this about?

W: Grease on crack….somewhat. Apparently John Waters decided to make a 1950’s style musical and Johnny Depp plays the lead role in this West Side Story meets Grease comedy.

N: That could be good.

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: Could be. I like Grease and I tolerated West Side Story….combining the two should be interesting. Its got Ricki Lake in her prime coming off Hairspray so it should be at least good to look at. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for CRY-BABY!

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: So what’s this about? Eric Roberts is an ex-reporter hired to find a playboy’s estranged wife and son. Eric then uncovers a shady murder mystery where he doesn’t know where to turn or who to trust. Will it be good? Who the hell knows. There’s only one way to find out and that’s to actually watch this. W: Whatever, point being is tonight’s movie requested by someone is the 1983 insane comedy DR. DETROIT!

W: Apparently a pimp is on the run and chooses a college professor played by Dan Ackroyd as his successor. Hilarity ensues!

N: That does sound funny.

W: Tonight we’ll be watching the 2 hour crime drama known as MILLER’S CROSSING. Basically Gabriel Byrne is caught between rival gangster mobs and gets caught in the middle of the two factions. I’ve heard its really good but I’ve never actually seen it for myself.

*Warlock flicks his wrist and the DVD player opens. He takes the disc out of the case and puts it in the player before he takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

*Warlock reads the tag-line*

W: “Tom Reagan, an advisor to a Prohibition-era crime boss, tries to keep the peace between warring mobs but gets caught in divided loyalties.”

W: A modern day Mercutio.

617. Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a 2022 Boston Celtics Eastern Conference Champions t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a Mega Pint of Dr. Pepper*

W: Welcome to my lair….welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*Warlock levitates before walking inside*

W: If you’re wondering why Mr. America here is dressed as Elvis again, I’ll explain it.

*Mr. America is in the recliner dressed as Elvis*

A: Thank you, thank you very much.

W: Tonight’s movie came out 25 years after Elvis died but it stars him….sorta.

A: How is that possible?

W: Apparently tonight’s movie is the 2002 horror comedy BUBBA HO-TEP. Bruce Campbell of Evil Dead fame stars as the real Elvis living in a nursing home when an Egyptian mummy attacks. This sounds completely insane and that’s exactly what we’re hoping for. Bruce Campbell always delivers the goods so will this be as fun as it seems?

A: It better be, I don’t dress up like this for kicks. I want Elvis dammit!

W: Alright alright, let’s find out if 20 years later BUBBA HO-TEP still holds up. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for BUBBA HO-TEP.

*Mr. America reads the tag-line*

A: “Elvis Presley and a black “JFK” stay in a nursing home where nothing happens – until a wayward Egyptian mummy comes and sucks out the old people’s souls thru their anuses. The two decide to fight back.”

W: This is either going to be insanely hilarious or REALLY bad. There is no in-between.

616. Remember Me (2022)

*The Warlock and Thug D are in D’s palace with both of them looking half dead on the couch*

D: This sucks.

W: I know…there’s nothing to watch.

*Warlock getts a Skype call from Mr. Wallstreet*

W: What in satan’s fire does he want?

*Warlock answers*

W: Yes, Mr. Wallstreet.

Wa: Sorry to interrupt whatever you’re doing but I got a really bad movie for you to watch.

*D rolls his eyes*

D: Why do they always have to be bad?

Wa: Wait, is that Thug D? I thought you were with Mr. America.

W: Not today, young fella. What have you got for me?

Wa: Thankfully its free, I’m sending you the link now.

*Wallstreet ends the call and Warlock’s phone pings*

W: Shall we even bother with this?

D: What the hell, we got nothing better to do. How bad could it be?

*Warlock just stares at him*

W: Driller Killer, Spirit Hunter La Llorona, The Manor, Basket Case 3…..it can get BAD.

D: What are we watching then?

*Warlock looks at his phone and picks up the remote. He puts on a specific app and finds it*

W: Welcome to Thug D’s palace for an impromptu session of Warlock’s Movie Realm. Today Thug D and I are checking out a British horror suspense movie that just came out last month called REMEMBER ME.

D: What’s it about?

W: A woman named Rose wakes up in a bed unable to walk or remember her life and is cared for by her mother. She quickly realizes not everything is as it seems.

D: That doesn’t sound too promising.

W: Oh it gets worse, its rated 3.9 out of 10 on IMDB.

D: Now I’m really dreading it.

W: Who knows, maybe it’ll be good? Realistically maybe its so bad its laughably bad. Either way the only way to find out is to watch. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for REMEMBER ME.

*Thug D reads the tag-line*

D: “Rose awakes in an unknown house following a serious car accident with memory loss and no ability to walk. Her Mother and boyfriend are there to help her. Rose wants to piece together her life before the accident. All is not what it seems.”

W: Oh god…that does sound dumb.
