563. Machete Kills (2013)

*The Warlock is at The Base wearing a black leather jacket, black t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a can of Pepsi*

W: Welcome to The Base for a long overdue commentary on a movie I’ve wanted to see for almost three years now.

*Mr. America is in his recliner wearing white cammo fatigues, vest and hat along with black combat boots and aviator shades*

A: You and me both.

W: What’s that tell you when Mr. Pessimist over here is looking forward to tonight’s movie?

A: Just tell them what it is.

W: Back in August of 2018, we did Emer Prevost Tribute Month where we watched 31 movies Emer covered on Reaction & Review before his untimely death in 2017. One of those movies was the brainless classic Machete. Tonight, we finally get around to doing the sequel, MACHETE KILLS.

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: Machete was a mindless, popcorn action movie that was really fun to watch. A few years later they made a sequel with Mel Gibson as the villain. Hopefully this will be just as good as the first and possibly better. It could also fall off a cliff badly like with other sequels I know. The only way to find out if it tops, equals or is worse than Machete is to watch it. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for MACHETE KILLS.

562. The Prestige (2006)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a black leather jacket, black t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a glass of Barq’s Root Beer*

W: Welcome to my lair….welcome I don’t think so, but Enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*Warlock levitates and walks inside*

W: For the past two years I’ve heard nothing but good things about tonight’s movie and have been trying to get Neyzor Blades to watch it with me. Well Neyz has no choice now because we’re doing it.

*Neyzor Blades is in the recliner wearing standard attire*

N: Don’t blame me, we could have watched this a long time ago but you chose to watch other things.

W: Anyway, what is tonight’s movie? The 2006 fantasy drama THE PRESTIGE! Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman star as rival magicians that will go far beyond rational thought and behavior to keep their acts relevant. Batman and Wolverine get to battle each other on stage and only one will walk away. The cast list is great, the story sounds interesting and I got a very good feeling about this one. The only way to find out if its good or not is to shut up and push play. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for THE PRESTIGE.

*Warlock reads the tag-line*

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a New England Patriots Superbowl Champions hat, black leather jacket, black t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a wine glass of Pepsi*

*Warlock shoots lightning before entering the lair*

W: 25 years ago, my mother took me and my sister to see JACK, the Robin Williams comedy, in theaters. I haven’t seen it again since…until now.

*Neyzor Blades is in the recliner wearing standard attire*

Neyz: So we’re actually going to watch a real comedy?

W: Yes, good news for you, right?

N: Yes, about time.

W: Now the plot to this is a little unusual but it makes it work. Robin Williams plays Jack, a 10 year old…yes, you heard me right, that suffers from a very rare disease that ages him rapidly. He has to go to fifth grade while looking like a 40 year old. Robin Williams can make reading the dictionary funny so let’s see if he can pull off playing a 10 year old as a grown man. Let’s get started with JACK.

W: “Because of an unusual disorder that has aged him four times faster than a typical human being, a boy looks like a 40-year-old man as he starts fifth grade at public school after being homeschooled.”

W: Welcome to my lair…welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*Warlock does nothing but walk inside*

W: Tonight I’m going solo and I’ll be taking a look at a movie my uncle personally suggested. 2 years ago an adventure comedy movie came out known as THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON. What’s it about? A beatnik runs away from home so he can make a living as a pro wrestler. Right up my alley right?

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: The movie stars Bruce Dern, Shia Lebouf and the tag team of Mick Foley and Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Having Cactus Jack and Jake The Snake in a wrestling movie has to be a good thing right? This movie is either going to be awesome or its going to suck royally, I don’t think there will be an in-between. The movie clocks in at just 97 minutes so if it does suck, at least the pain will be short. The only way to find out if its good or not is to shut up and push play and I’m gonna do that…right now. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON.

*Warlock shoots a lightning bolt and walks inside*

W: I mentioned last January that one of my grandfather’s favorite movies was The Hustler. Not only did I watch that, my father and I caught the sequel that came out over 20 years later. Tonight I’ll be doing one of my grandmother’s favorite movies. Tonight I take on the 1954 three hour musical A STAR IS BORN starring Judy Garland.

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: I know absolutely nothing about this movie apart from it stars Judy Garland, its a remake of a 1937 movie with the exact same plot and its a 3 hour marathon. I’ve only heard good things about A STAR IS BORN but will the length be too much to overcome? Let’s find out. Grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for A STAR IS BORN.

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing an ECW t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a bottle of water*

W: Welcome to my lair….welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*Warlock shoots lightning and walk inside*

W: Tonight its back to the yard sale box although we’re at the end. All of the movies except one have been better than expected and the only one that wasn’t, was exactly the mindless cheese I knew it would be. There’s only one movie left so let’s see what came in first place.

*Warlock goes to the box on the kitchen table and pulls out a DVD. He looks at the cover and smiles*

W: Oh hell yeah. FINALLY!

*Warlock puts in the DVD and sits in the middle of the couch*

W: The final movie of this box is something I’ve wanted to see for 20 years now. That movie is SWORDFISH. I’ve heard good things about this movie and now I finally get to see it. It has a great cast and a good rating on IMDB.com. I’m not expecting a masterpiece by any means but so far all of the movies except one have been better than expected. So will this be the only stinker or will it deliver like all that’s come before it? Grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for SWORDFISH.

*The Warlock reads the tag-line*

W: “A covert counter-terrorist unit called Black Cell led by Gabriel Shear wants the money to help finance their war against international terrorism, but it’s all locked away. Gabriel brings in convicted hacker Stanley Jobson to help him.”

W: So is Travolta a face or a heel?

557. The Last Samurai (2003)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a 2018 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a wine glass of Pepsi*

W: Welcome to my lair…welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*The Warlock shoots a lightning bolt then walks inside*

W: We’re heading toward the end of the Yard Sale Box as there’s only two movies left in there. Let’s see what came in second place.

*Warlock sticks his hand in the box on the kitchen table and pulls out a DVD. He looks at the cover*

W: Oh wow.

*Warlock shakes his head and puts the DVD in the player and sits in the middle of the couch*

W: I just pulled a movie that also belonged to Neyzor Blades late father. It will also be the longest I’ve down out of the box, that movie is THE LAST SAMURAI. In 2003 the major domos decided that Tom Cruise needed to be an American samurai warrior. Why? I don’t know. Neyz’ father had it so I know it can’t be too bad. Now will it keep my attention for 2 1/2 hours? Let’s find out and begin the movie. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for THE LAST SAMURAI.

*Warlock reads the tag-line*

W: “An American military advisor embraces the Samurai culture he was hired to destroy after he is captured in battle.”

W: Sounds like Dances With Wolves only with samurai instead of Native Americans.

556. Repo Man (1984)

*The Warlock is sitting on a rolling chair at The Base. He’s wearing a New England Patriots Superbowl 53 Champions hat, Hungry Fat Chick t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a bottle of Barq’s Root Beer*

W: Welcome to the base for a special Fan Request. As you can tell by my shirt, I’m friends with Hungry Fat Chick from Youtube. She personally recommended today’s movie Mr. America and I will be watching.

*Mr. America is on his bed wearing white cammo fatigues, vest and hat along with black combat boots and aviator shades*

A: I don’t even want to begin to find out who that is or why you’re wearing that.

W: Whatever. Anyway Hungry Fat Chick has requested and we’re going to do….REPO MAN starring Emilio Estevez.

A: I saw that years ago.

W: I haven’t. I’m going into this completely blind. All I know is Emilio is a repo man and Harry Dean Stanton is in it. The same co-worker who requested DC Cab also said this was good. So with multiple sources telling me the movie is good, I’ll hope for the best. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for REPO MAN.

555. GI Joe: Retaliation (2013)

*The Warlock is outside The Base with Mr. America. They just got done defeating a bunch of Cobra soldiers and are looking over the damage they caused*

W: Cobra thought they could mess with us?

A: Ha!

*America twirls his carbine rifle and they both walk inside*

W: Welcome back to Warlock’s Movie Realm for part two of our GI Joe tribute.

*America takes his seat in the recliner and Warlock sits back in the middle of the couch*

W: Before we were so rudely interrupted, we were about to watch GI JOE: RETALIATION. Released 4 years after Rise of The Cobra, this was the long awaited sequel to that movie. I never saw it when it first came out so I’m going into this one completely blind.

A: I liked it.

W: Of course you did, but will it be good to me? I was never a huge GI Joe fan growing up so I’m not looking for a canon accurate storyline, I just hope its a good movie. We have new writers and a new director for this one to boot. Will it be good? Let’s find out. Grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for GI JOE: RETALIATION.

*The Warlock reads the tag-line*

W: “The G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.”

A: …..when DON’T they deal with threats that jeopardize their existence?

554. Green Street Hooligans (2005)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a New England Patriots Superbowl 38 Champions hat, a black t-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a diamond studded goblet of Barq’s Root Beer*

W: Welcome to my lair….welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*Warlock levitates before walking inside*

W: Tonight is a special IT CAME FROM YOUTUBE that was handpicked by Neyzor Blades herself. That’s right, SHE picked it out so if it sucks, don’t blame me.

*Neyzor Blades is sitting in the recliner wearing standard attire*

N: Hey, after all the crap you put me through, its my turn to pick one out.

W: Sure, sure. Anyway tonight’s movie is based off a true story of extremely fanatic soccer fans. Tonight’s movie is GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS.

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: Apparently, there are rabid, fanatic soccer fans for English soccer teams across England. The most rabid and violent fans are called “firms” and think The Boston Red Sox Royal Rooters and multiply their intensity by a million. An American played by Elijah Wood gets thrown into this sadistic world and is in for the fight of his life. Some critics have claimed that the film is mostly accurate so this is setting up to go one or two ways. Either this movie is going to be really good to showcase extreme soccer fans or its going to suck balls trying to make soccer look cool. Which way will it go? There’s only one way to find out. Grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS.
