660. Sunrise (1927)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a Providence Bruins jersey with the named Warlock on the back & number 13, blue jeans, white sneakers and Gargoyle shades. He’s holding a Mega Pint of Dr. Pepper*

W: Welcome to my lair…welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*Warlock shoots a lightning bolt and walks inside*

W: Welcome back to Public Domain Week at Warlock’s Movie Realm. Batting cleanup is the only movie on this list I’m a little wary of. It was reportedly the most expensive movie of 1927 to make although 21 year old Janet Gaynor was nominated for Best Actress for it. In case you haven’t guessed, its the thriller drama SUNRISE.

*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*

W: In this caper, a rich single woman plots with a lowly farmer to kill his wife and run away with her. Her plans go south when the farmer ends up rekindling his love with his wife. Don’t you hate when that happens? Anyway the reason I’m wary of this one is its one of the longest of the week at 94 minutes long. The good news is its rated 8.1 on IMDB and Janet Gaynor was a good actress for her time. It may be 94 minutes of torture or it may be good, the only way to find out is to watch it. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because it’s time for SUNRISE.

*Warlock reads the tag-line*

W: “A sophisticated urban woman seduces a farmer in the hopes that he will murder his neglected wife and join her in the city, but he ends up rekindling his romance with his wife when she discovers their scheme.”

W: Uh oh, she got CAUGHT!
