W: Welcome back to Oscar’s Month here at Warlock’s Movie Realm. There are only four movies left in the month and tonight’s movie will be the winner of Best Picture in 2016, the coming of age story MOONLIGHT. First the accolades, Mahershala Ali won Best Supporting Actor, Naomie Harris was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, Barry Jenkins was nominated for Best Director, the movie was nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Best Original Score while the movie won Best Adaptation. Now for the competition, and this is gonna piss me off. MOONLIGHT beat out Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, La La Land, Lion and Manchester By The Sea. My father loved Hacksaw Ridge and I loved Manchester By The Sea.
*Warlock takes his seat in the middle of the couch*
W: So what is MOONLIGHT about? Its about a gay black boy who comes of age and struggles to live his life. Its got a good cast and the story won Best Adaptation so how bad could it be? I’m not expecting to be blown away and the movie content isn’t my cup of tea, but I’m going to give it a chance. Let’s see if it measures up to Hacksaw Ridge and Manchester. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for MOONLIGHT.
