639. Pocketful of Miracles (1961)

*The Warlock opens the door to his lair. He’s wearing a green Boston Celtics #99 Tacko Fall jersey, blue jeans, white sneakers and gargoyle shades. He’s holding a Mega Pint of Pepsi*

W: Welcome to my lair…welcome I don’t think so, but enter. Enter my lair if you dare. I’m your host The Warlock.

*Warlock shoots a lightning bolt and walks inside*

W: As you all know one of Mr. America’s favorite actresses is the one and only Ann Margret and we’ve seen some doozies of hers, that’s for sure.

*Mr. America is in the recliner wearing green cammo fatigues, vest and hat along with black combat boots and aviator shades*

A: Yeah, can’t go wrong with her.

W: We’ve already taken a look at some of her most famous roles when she was in her prime in the 1960’s but tonight we will be watching the very first movie she was in. As a 20 year old, she appeared in the 1961 comedy POCKETFUL OF MIRACLES.

A: What the hell is that?

W: Unfortunately I don’t know too much about the movie apart from it does feature some great actors. Bette Davis, Glenn Ford, Hope Lange and Peter “Columbo” Falk are in this along with Ann Margret in a minor role. Another thing going against this is the run-time as it clocks in at 2 hours and 17 minutes long.

A: Oh shit.

W: That’s what I’m saying. We wouldn’t mind staring at Ann Margret for two hours but this isn’t going to be about her. Its going to be about Bette Davis mostly and this was when she was in her 50’s. Still, there’s a chance for this to be good as much as it has a chance to be a torture test. The only way to find out is to actually watch the movie. So grab your popcorn, grab your drink and grab your woman because its time for POCKETFUL OF MIRACLES.

*America reads the tag-line*

A: “A New York gangster and his girlfriend attempt to turn street beggar Apple Annie into a society lady when the peddler learns her daughter is marrying royalty.

W: Wait, that’s just My Fair Lady set in the United States with Bette Davis instead of Audrey Hepburn….which was a ripoff of the Three Stooges episode Hoi Polloi to begin with!
